# MatchForge Terms of Service

Welcome to MatchForge. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

## 1. What MatchForge Is — Personal Safety & Due Diligence

MatchForge is a **personal safety and basic due diligence tool** for adults making informed decisions about people they may meet through dating or social platforms.

You upload **screenshots of publicly visible dating profiles** — the same information any user with an account on that platform could ordinarily see. MatchForge performs AI-assisted analysis for **authenticity, compatibility, and safety signals** to help **you** decide whether someone warrants further attention or caution.

MatchForge is **decision-support software**. It is **not**:

- A dating service or matchmaking guarantee
- A consumer reporting agency or licensed background-check provider
- A source of ground truth about any person
- Access to private databases, hidden profiles, or non-public information

We **do not** assume, infer, or retrieve information that is not public or that you have not chosen to upload.

## 2. Your Input — Public and User-Shared Sources Only

You may only upload content that comes from:

- **Publicly visible** dating or social profile screens you can lawfully view
- **Information shared with you directly** (e.g. chat screenshots someone sent you)
- **Your own** optional profile details (bio, selfie, etc.)

You represent that you have a **lawful personal reason** to analyze this material for your own safety and due diligence — not for harassment, surveillance, or commercial exploitation.

## 3. Self-Hosted and Hosted Deployments

- **Self-hosted:** You run MatchForge on your own infrastructure. Data stays under your control unless you configure external AI services.
- **Hosted (e.g. match-forge.com):** We operate the app and database for your account. AI analysis may use configured cloud models (e.g. xAI Grok). We do not sell your data.

In all deployments, **you** decide what to upload and when to delete it.

## 4. Your Responsibilities

You agree that you will:

- Use MatchForge only for **personal safety and due diligence** — not stalking, harassment, defamation, discrimination, or doxxing
- Comply with applicable law and each platform's Terms of Service
- **Verify important conclusions yourself** before meeting anyone — especially in person
- Take reasonable steps to protect your own physical and emotional safety regardless of any score
- Keep your account credentials secure

You must **not**:

- Scrape, mass-harvest, or resell profile data
- Upload content you know to be non-public, stolen, or obtained without authorization
- Use outputs to publicly shame, rank, or expose people without their consent
- Rely on MatchForge as a substitute for professional investigation or law enforcement

## 5. AI Limitations — Read Carefully

All scores and explanations — including catfish risk, authenticity, filter detection, bot signals, and compatibility — are **probabilistic estimates**. AI makes mistakes.

MatchForge:

- Does **not** guarantee accuracy of any assessment
- May miss real risks (**false negatives**) or flag innocent profiles (**false positives**)
- Does **not** replace your judgment, direct conversation, mutual friends, or common-sense safety practices
- Cannot confirm identity, criminal history, relationship status, or intentions with certainty

**Catfish and authenticity detection is probabilistic — always verify yourself.**

## 6. No Liability for Outcomes or Safety Incidents

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MatchForge and its operators are **not liable** for:

- Dating outcomes, meetings, relationships, or personal safety incidents
- Harm arising from decisions you make based on AI outputs
- Errors in analysis, service downtime, or third-party AI provider behavior
- Content you or others upload

The service is provided **"as is"** without warranties.

## 7. Public Social Enrichment

Where enabled, MatchForge may supplement your analysis with **publicly available** web or social information. We do not access private accounts, direct messages, paywalled records, or proprietary databases. You remain responsible for compliant use.

## 8. Data Retention and Deletion

You may **delete individual profile workups** at any time from the dashboard. Deletion removes associated screenshots, rankings, and analysis from your account.

You may request **account deletion** as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not require you to retain analyzed profiles after review — deleting data promptly is encouraged if you no longer need it.

## 9. Account Termination

We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using MatchForge at any time.

## 10. Changes

Material changes will use a new policy version and may require re-acceptance.

## 11. Governing Law & PIPEDA

These Terms are governed by the laws of **Canada**. Canadian residents have privacy rights under **PIPEDA**; see our Privacy Policy for how we collect, use, and delete personal information with your consent.
